CHF Starts to “Slack Off”: A New Communications Initiative

By: Noah Hammes, CHF Staff

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world faced a difficult transition. Gone were the in-person meetings, team lunches, and the all-important organization wide events that helped build networks and strengthen relationships. Instead, the working world fashioned home offices out of their closets and kitchens, found innovative ways to continue advocacy in digital spaces, and spent hours trying to figure out how to set up blur backgrounds on Zoom calls. CHF members, like so many others, showed immense resilience during this time of unprecedented uncertainty, and as we continue within this new world, it is time to focus on fostering community and building relationships together.

So today we are announcing that we have developed a Slack workspace for our membership.

We hope through using this tool, CHF can better identify and develop common interest areas amongst membership to discuss common interests and create a space for cross-organizational event sharing and information distribution. For newer members, we hope the platform encourages engagement and helps you feel comfortable speaking up. For our old-timers, we see this as a great space to share your health funding wisdom. But most importantly, we want to see some high-quality memes and GIFs!

What really makes Slack an ideal resource for CHF members is that it allows us to share real time information amongst membership. We know information is a precious commodity with a short shelf life. Through Slack, we hope CHF members can more quickly develop collaborative advocacy efforts, circulate opportunities, and discuss current events in the health funding space with each other.

Social connectivity is incredibly important and something that has been in somewhat short supply the past few years. CHF strives to be a space for members to support each other through both the good and challenging times. It’s our hope that the Slack channel becomes a space for members to be themselves and share in the good times and the bad.

CHF and its member organizations have led the way over the past two years in advocating for public health funding under challenging professional and personal circumstances. We see Slack another step in expanding our coalition communications, and we hope you’ll all join us in there!
